Custom cabinet, drawer, and folder icons

How to define custom icons for your cabinets, drawers, and folders

What is a custom cabinet, drawer, or folder icon?
A) The My Cabinets icon is the icon displayed to the left of the My Cabinets item in the cabinet list.
B) A Cabinet icon is the icon used to represent a cabinet.
C) A Drawer icon is the icon used to represent a drawer.
D) A Folder icon is the icon used to represent a folder.
How do I define one?
A) To define the My Cabinets icon you can create your own or find one you like on your computer or the internet, findicons.com or iconarchive.com are two sites that contain several examples of icons. The file format must be png and should be 24 x 24 pixels.
B) To define a Cabinet icon you follow the same steps as identified in step "A", with a file formatted as png and size of 24 x 24 pixels
C) To define a Drawer icon you follow the same steps as identified in step "A", with a file formatted as png and size of 22 x 22 pixels
D) To define a Folder icon you follow the same steps as identified in step "A", with a file formatted as png and size of 24 x 24 pixels
Note: The icon sizes specified above are recommended for optimizing speed, an icon of a greater size will be automatically downsized to the appropriate size.
Where do I save my custom icons so IntelliCabinet can reference them?
A) The My Cabinets icon file name must be icon.png and placed in the IntelliCabinet Cabinets folder. On windows this is typically C:\Users\your user name\IntelliCabinet\Cabinets. You can see the installation location path by selecting Session Log from the help menu. If the icon is changed while the IntelliCabinet application is open you will need to restart the application for it to reference the newly defined icon.
B, C, & D) Place your custom icons in their respective directory folders (i.e. CabinetIcons, DrawerIcons, FolderIcons), which are located in the IntelliCabinet installation directory. On windows this is typically C:\Users\your user name\IntelliCabinet. If you have common icons that you want to be accessible for Cabinets, Drawers, and Folders then save them in the CommonIcons folder. You can create your own folders inside of these folders also for grouping the icons.
How do I set a cabinet, drawer, or folder icon once I have them defined?
E) You select an icon by activating the icon selector, which is activated by selecting Icon from a popup context menu, then selecting the icon from the list of pre-defined icons.
F) Alternate Location: The alternate location is accessible when no other icons are selected. The alternate location can be used to define the icon path directly. For example: C:\My Icons\My Icon.png or http://www.mywebsite.com/myicon.png. This is useful when sharing cabinets with others who may not have the icon defined on their computer.
G) Refresh Icons: Check Refresh Icons if you have placed new icons in your custom icon folders and want to refresh the Icon Selector dialog list. The icons are refreshed upon selecting the OK button.
