Folder Popup Context Menu

Understanding the Folder popup context menu

With the Folder popup context menu you can perform the following tasks
  • 1) Select Insert Folder when you want to add a new folder to the right of the selected folder.
  • 2) Select Rename to change the name of the selected folder. This function can also be accessed by double clicking the selected folder. To dynamically change the name of the folder from a cabinets property setting enter the following in the folder name field $CAB_PROP[Any Property Name]$DEFAULT[Any Default Name] The displayed folder name will lookup the defined property name within the brackets, Any Property Name in this example, within the defined cabinet property's attributes list and display the value assigned for that property element. The $DEFAULT variable is used to define the displayed folder name when the $CAB_PROP name attribute is not assigned, Any Default Name in this example. You may need to refresh the owning cabinet in order for it to source the property settings.
  • 3) Select Cut when you want to cut the selected folder.
  • 4) Select Copy when you want to copy the selected folder.
  • 5) Select Remove when you want to remove/delete the selected folder.
  • 6) Select Position when you want to move/change the position of the folder within the selected drawer owning cabinet.
  • 7) Select Folder Color when you want to set/change the customized color of the selected folder. Select reset on the color dialog to change the folder to the default color.
  • 8) Select Insert Row when you want to insert a row into the selected folder.
  • 9) Select Paste when you want to paste a copied or cut file item from another folder.
  • 10) Select Paste As when you want to paste a copied or cut folder file item but perform additional actions to the actual files on your operating system. For example if you cut a folder file item within IntelliCabinet then select paste-as you will be asked to enter a new name for the associated file, which will result in a rename or move of the actual file on your operating system. If you select copy then paste-as you will be asked to enter a new name for the associated file, which will result in a duplicate/copy of the original file on your operating system. If an existing file is selected then the IntelliCabinet folder file item will be pasted but will now be associated to the selected file on your operating system.
  • 11) Select Print when you want to print the selected folders file columns and data content.
  • 12) Select Export TSV when you want to export the selected folders file columns and data content to a tab separated file.
  • 13) Select Advanced to define the actions to take place when you drag and drop your operating system directory folders and files into an active folder. You can keep the inserted items in their original location, or move or copy them to a pre-defined directory folder. Additional tabs will be visible on Professional and Elite versions such as Access, Push Inserted and Push Row Removed to allow for additional permission settings and data connectivity.
  • 14) Select Icon when you want to specify the icon that will be displayed for the selected cabinet. To dynamically set the icon of the folder from a defined cabinets property setting enter the following in the folder icon's alternate location field $CAB_PROP[Any Icon Name]$DEFAULT[Any Default Icon] The displayed folder icon will lookup the defined property name within the brackets, Any Icon Name in this example, within the defined cabinet property's attributes list and display the icon for the value attribute assigned for that property element. The $DEFAULT variable is used to define the displayed folder icon when the $CAB_PROP name attribute is not assigned, Any Default Icon in this example. The resulting value could be an existing icon or could also be a path to an icon (e.g. C:\MyIcons\icon.png) or a URL (e.g. http://www.myicons.com/icon.png).
  • 15) Select Apps to open the Apps dialog. The Apps Dialog will contain custom developed apps to select as a folder view or to install folder tab apps. This feature will only be enabled if custom apps have been configured in the Advanced settings dialog.
  • 16) Toggle on the App Tabs to display additional tabs such as customized columns, commands and file plug-ins, formatting, and custom developed apps.
  • 17) Toggle on the Filter when you want to specify criteria to filter the folder items by. By default, row items are visible if any part of a row's column value contains the specified criteria. To specify a java regular expression syntax start the criteria with a ?: (question mark and colon together) then the regular expression to match. For example, ?:(?i)*key* will filter for any column values containing key in them regardless of upper or lower case. Review the java regular expression api syntax for additional ways you can utilize this feature. The starting ?: is only for IntelliCabinet to know that you have entered a regular expression, it is ignored when performing the actual regular expression match.
